✨About KEA✨

Eight years ago, KIKIFER’S Entrepreneurial Academy (KEA) was born out of a bold vision: to create an educational space where students don’t just pass classes — they publish books, launch businesses, and build legacies.

What began with a handful of families has grown into Illinois’ only Black-owned private K–12, known for transforming students who once struggled into confident leaders with a future. Our story is one of perseverance, community, and a commitment to re-imagining education for the 21st century.

2019: KEA was established by Co-Founders, CEO Bro. Henry and Sis. Keishonda. After the first semester, enrollment nearly doubled.

2020: KEA partnered with Rockford's only Historically Black Owned Community Center, Booker Washington Community Center, where enrollment again doubled.

2021: KEA was invited to the 100th Centennial of Black Wall Street in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where KEA was crowned "The Future of Black Entrepreneurship." Over 20 KEA Students attended this historical field trip that lasted for 3 days.

2022: KEA was awarded for excellence by the State of Illinois through State Representative Maurice West. Keishonda Williamson, KEA Co-Founder, was also awarded the 2022 Business of the Year by Janene Stephenson's Positive Reflections.

2023: KEA's 1st High School Graduation took place in Houston, Texas as KEA celebrated its first Online Student Graduate! This same student made over $25K in one day in his business!

2024: KEA's first in-person high school graduate was celebrated. This student entered KEA as a sophomore in High School academically below a grade level and was able to complete all required high school credits half a semester early. KEA was also awarded by Client Attraction University at the Wealthy Black Coaches Summit in Atlanta by the King of Client Attraction, Marquel Russell.

2025: To date KEA students have published 100's of books, made thousands of dollars in business, been on TV, Podcasts, Radio, Magazines, and more! And continue to grow in success year after year!!!

2026: KEA entered its eighth year with a renewed focus on long-term sustainability, community partnership, campus transformation, and expanding the resources available to students. Through the Build the Future™ initiative, KEA began its next chapter: strengthening the institution, transforming its downtown Rockford campus, and building the foundation for generations of future entrepreneurs, authors, and leaders.

What We Do: A School Like No Other

At KEA, we believe education should prepare students for life, not just tests. Every child who walks through our doors is expected to:

Publish a book each year 📚 → building confidence and communication skills.
Run a real business 💼 → learning ownership, leadership, and financial literacy.
Master their academics → excelling in reading, math, and beyond.

We educate the whole child — academically, socially, morally, and spiritually — preparing them to thrive in school, in business, and in life.

WHY WE EXIST

Traditional education often asks children what they want to become someday.

At KEA, we believe children shouldn't have to wait until adulthood to discover what they're capable of.

That's why our students don't simply study entrepreneurship—they build businesses.

They don't simply read books—they become published authors.

They don't wait until college to learn responsibility, leadership, financial literacy, and ownership—they begin developing those skills now.

KEA exists to help children discover their potential early enough to actually build a life around it.

This includes the physical campus transformation we've been designing: the windows, exterior storytelling, student achievements, entrepreneurship displays, sponsor recognition, branding, etc.
🤝 Build the Future™ → Create a sustainable community of individuals, businesses, corporations, and organizations investing directly in KEA students, educators, programming, facilities, and long-term growth.
